Elijah: Courageous Dependence
Scripture: 1 Kings 16:29-33, 1 Kings 17:1-16
In 1 Kings 17, Elijah steps onto the scene and into a spiritually dark moment in Israel’s history with godly courage, even when he has to stand alone. God then leads him to a secluded brook and later to a struggling widow, teaching him to depend on God’s provision in unexpected places. Elijah’s obedience reminds us to go where God sends us and do what He tells us, even when we can’t see how it will work out. The widow faces that same invitation to trust, responding to God’s promise when her resources are nearly gone. As we begin this series, we’re challenged to stand firm, walk in obedience, and trust God’s faithfulness when the next step feels uncertain.
