Elijah: A Faith Worth Passing On
Elijah: A Faith Worth Passing On
A faith worth passing on is shared through relationships, teaches dependence on God, and prepares others to step forward. As Elisha walks beside Elijah, he witnesses a life of obedience and learns to recognize God’s power at work. His request for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit expresses his desire to carry on the calling and receive the spiritual provision that only God can give. When Elijah is taken away, Elisha grieves, picks up the mantle, and steps forward in trust that Elijah’s God will continue His work. This passage invites us to consider whom we are learning from, how we are growing in dependence on God, and who is becoming better prepared to follow Him because they walk with us.
