Good morning and welcome to New Life online! I'm Rodney and I'll be your host this morning. Thanks for joining us to worship on this beautiful Sunday!

Today we have a special guest preaching. Jeremy Woods is from Asheville and has served at Biltmore Church. His family and several others are moving to Myrtle Beach, SC, to plant a new church, Coastway Church. This is a new partnership for New Life as we come alongside this effort!

Today’s sermon is from John 12:20-26. The main idea is “Gaining by Losing.”

The sermon in a sentence: At the heart of the Gospel is a God Who gained by losing — and invites us to do the same!

Thanks for worshipping with us today! Please join us again next Sunday at 9am or 11am.

We gain by SACRIFICIAL SURRENDER

Friday – the darkest moment in the history of the world. Jesus, undeservingly beaten beyond comprehension and crucified, finally commends his spirit to God and dies.

And yet we call this Friday β€˜Good’.

The Cross – a symbol of suffering, shame, and death. The Romans had made capital punishment something of a macabre work of art, maximizing the victim’s pain and humiliation before ultimately taking their life.

And yet we sing of it as β€˜Wonderful’.

Why? Why do we consider the death of an innocent good? Why do we consider the symbol of that death wonderful?

Because what man intended for evil, God intended for good.

Joseph’s brothers intended it for evil when they sold him into slavery, yet God intended it for good and prospered Joseph to be a savior to the very ones who forsook him. (Gen 50:20)

Judas meant it for evil when he betrayed Jesus. The religious leaders meant it for evil when they called for the death of Jesus. Pilate meant it for evil when he failed to use his authority to preserve the life of a man who he knew to be innocent.

God meant it for good. Through the sinful work of sinful man, God did not spare his own Son, but gave him up as a sacrifice for the ultimate, everlasting good of the world. Satan thought he had a victory on Friday, but God knew Sunday was coming.

That is why we sing about the Wonderful Cross on this Good Friday!

Good morning church!

Good morning from Jeff and lael

πŸ™Œ

“A continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is. If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. The Apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman Empire, the great men who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the Slave Trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with Heaven. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth “thrown in:” aim at earth and you will get neither” C. S. Lewis (Mere Christianity)

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28

Good morning! My name is Roxanne and I will be your host this morning. Welcome!

The Antidote For A Troubled Heart Is Jesus

12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. John 14

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.

1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. John 14

7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. John 14

4 And you know the way to where I am going. 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” John 14

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Thank you. I am loving ll

Good morning! I'm Roxanne and I'll be your host this morning.

27 Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” 28 Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him. 29 Some thought that, because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. 30 So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.

“The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” - Tim Keller

The Abiding Life: Betrayal & The Way of Love

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

31 When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.

2. Root Your Identity In The Right Soil

4. Radical Christian Love is Evidence of a Risen Savior.

33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’…36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow afterward.” 37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.
