This Christmas sermon calls us to stop chasing what can never satisfy and to come back to the One who can. Using Jeremiah’s picture of the “fountain of living water” and Jesus’ promise of rivers of life, we’re confronted with how easy it is to trade God’s presence for cracked cisterns—good things turned into ultimate things that leave us dry. Through honest reflection, humor, and wisdom earned over time, we’re invited to unwrap the deeper gifts of salvation: delighting in God’s creation, abiding in the Spirit’s nearness, resting in God’s sovereignty, and living with hope that outlasts death. Christmas reminds us that Emmanuel has come—not just to get us to heaven someday, but to fill us with life today. As a new year approaches, the invitation is simple: seek God above all, because only He is enough.
