The End Game
This week we wrap up our fall missions series by diving into one of the most incredible passages in the New Testament. In this chapter, God is giving the apostle John a glimpse of the end of this age as he gets to watch a magnificent story unfold in the throne room of God. John is broken by the hopelessness of humanity and longs for a worthy redeemer to open the heavenly scroll and usher in the consummation of God’s Kingdom when all will be made right and all that is broken will be restored. As John begins to lose all hope, Jesus--the victor-- shows up to open the scroll and set in motion the liberation of all of his people and the restoration of all creation. All heaven erupts into worship as they sing that Jesus has ransomed people from every tribe, language, people and nation. From this glorious scene, we see that God’s mission is not complete until people from every tribe, tongue and nation are worshipping Jesus. Currently, there are roughly 6,000 unreached people groups in the world that have little to no access to the only gospel that can save them. That’s over 3 billion people. The only appropriate response for the redeemed follower of Jesus is to fully engage in God’s global mission of reconciling all peoples to Himself. Will you pray relentlessly, give sacrificially and go confidently? We all have a role to play in this incredible mission...what’s yours?
