When It All Falls Apart

As we continue diving deeper into the lost art of lament, we turn our attention to the element of lament that many find most uncomfortable. Pouring out our complaints to God. No other world religion or worldview offers this level of raw & real engagement with a God who actually welcomes it. Psalm 88 has been called the darkest psalm in the bible. It’s painfully raw, real and dark. And yet, it teaches us so much about the beauty of lament. Things like: silence is a soul killer--so put words to your pain and express them to God. Truths like: dark times platform God’s greatness in us. We must always remember to bring our complaints to God humbly, honestly and repeatedly. God welcomes our hurt, pain, confusion, and paradoxically, this becomes the pathway to healing the deep wounds in our souls. God is the great healer and redeemer--perhaps it’s time we stop burying our pain and pretending it doesn’t hurt and bring it to the One who can redeem & restore.
